Marcus is a Fall River resident and a full time musician. He started playing the saxophone at age 11 consuming and enjoying all music had to offer. His skills led him to attend UMASS Dartmouth where he majored in Music Performance and Composition. The connections made there allowed him to tour the country twice as well as play the prestigious Panama Jazz festival with Santi Debriano in 2006.

In addition to leading his own group, the Marcus Monteiro Quartet (MM4), Marcus now teaches an early childhood music program called Music Together in Marion, Massachusetts.

Marcus is known for his ability to perform in many styles and participates in groups that defy definition. Marcus performs regularly with; Boston Swing, The Grand Army, The Dave Richardson Band, The Neal Mcarthy Problem, New Image, and Jazzadelic just to name a few. You can find him anywhere performing styles ranging from Blues to Electronica.
