Bird Taylor

Vocalist – New Hampshire

Born in Kentucky into a musical family, Bird learned to sing with the family group that sang in many Churches. A self taught drummer, Bird joined his brothers’ band.

After touring the south for many years, Bird relocated to Martha’s Vineyard in the early Seventies where he played drums and sang with his brothers in The Taylor Made Band. In 1983 he relocated to Boston and began singing with The Funk Busters, James Montgomery’s band with his brothers Buck and Alex Taylor.

When Buck and Bird split from The Funk Busters they reformed Taylor Made and wowed audiences up and down the East Coast. Bird also did session work with Susan Tedshchi, Michelle Wilson and Toni Lynn Washington. He and Buck did many jingles and commercial recordings with the Handsome Brother’s Agency where they nicknamed him “One-Take Jake”.

The duo split up in the mid ‘90’s, with Buck going to Ireland and Bird fronting his own funk band, The Bird Taylor Band. In addition, Bird performed with The Sultans of Swing for several years. Now located in New Hampshire, Bird has made his name synonymous with Classic R&B, Funk and Disco up all over the East Coast. He enjoys working with Boston Swing and definitely puts on an unforgettable performance!
